Thanks to its favourable setting and mild climate, Kaltern and its surroundings is able to offer you countless opportunities for active moments in the open air, for getting to know people and places, for discovering the secrets of nature and for doing your body and fitness levels some good.
An almost completely flat bike path runs along the Etsch, meaning that this area and the surrounding areas can be easily reached by bike or on foot. Those who want to test their bikes to the limit can take the Serpentine road from Kaltern right up the Mendel pass. Bike season in Kaltern runs from March right through to November!
Relaxing walks through the Frühlingstal Spring Valley, along the high Eppan walking trails, towards the castles that spring up all over the Eppan area, through the Rastenbachklamm river valley, or a contemplative stroll to Altenburg – ramblers will be in their element.
A walk to the ice holes is wonderfully refreshing in summer. These natural rock formations on the slopes of the Mendel are, thanks to the wind patterns, blessed with a perpetual fresh breeze.
Lake Kaltern, the warmest lake of the Alps, is perfect for swimming and water sports, while the two lakes of Montiggler are particularly inviting for an afternoon swim. Another sporting opportunity can be found in the many tennis courts of the region, the artificial ice palace, the light athletics centre, the Nordic Walking routes, the shooting range and the trips on horseback.
New: The Wood Experience adventure park opens its doors in spring 2008.
